The list of artists who have recorded his songs ranges from Patti Page to Jerry Lee Lewis to The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton and Alabama. His song “Rose of My Heart” is part of Johnny Cash’s last recording, American V: A Hundred Highways. Hugh has released nine albums and toured extensively around the world. Saturday, March 22, 2008 - 7:00pm - 10:30pm

Mentor: Kate Chabourne (http://www.realmsofsilver.com) - Kate Chadbourne has built her life’s house at the crossroads of song, scholarship, poetry, story, and music. She holds a Ph.D. in Celtic from Harvard where she teaches courses in Irish language, folklore, literature, and storytelling. The stories she tells are mainly Irish folktales and medieval legends, often embellished with harp accompaniment. In her musical life, she travels between the world of Irish traditional music and the worlds she imagines and creates in her original songs for voice, piano, Irish flute, whistle, and harp. She is also a published poet and essayist. Whether she is singing, telling stories, teaching, or sharing a poem, she aims to leave her audiences moved, enlivened, and eager for their own adventures.
Opener: The Cronins - Music has always  been an essential thread in the fabric or George and Lisa Cronin's life. Father and daughters interests cross paths in the music room often. George's interests range from singing with a classical chorus, to the music of Stephen foster. Performing at Boston area coffee houses, he mixes his own songs with those of artists like James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. Lisa's angelic voice has helped shape an award winning collage a-capella group. Her own vocal performances have covered artists such as Bonnie Raitte and Alison Krauss, impressing audiences in the Boston area.

Once again we are pleased to feature the incomparable Don White  for a return engagement - If you laugh and cry within the same ten minutes, you either need a vacation or you are sitting in the audience at a Don White show. This working class family man from Lynn, Massachusetts has emerged as the thoughtful songwriter of the decade whose relevance to our lives is evidenced by the powerful reaction he evokes at every concert. Radio audiences, too, are not safe from the Don White experience. Valerie Adams of WNCS Radio, Vermont said, "I've never seen anything like it. Every time I play I Know What Love Is the phones light up like a Christmas tree. Stereo Review Magazine called it "...A candidate for song of the year."

Saturday, September 27, 2008 - 7:00pm - 10:30pm

Mentor: Mimi Mahoney - Jim Armstrong told Mimi on her 1st day of lessons with him three years ago- "never forget that a great song, well performed, is a story put to music". Well Mimi has taken Jim's advice to heart by performing her "musical stories" with a unique talent and youthful enthusiasm to appreciative audiences across New England. With an ardent guitar style and sincere, soulful voice that is striking for an artist that is all of 16 years of age, she has already been a featured performer at the Vermont State Fair, Cohasset and Marshfield Farmer's Markets, and Marshfield Audubon Society  Annual Field Day. Two of Mimi's original songs will be featured on compilation album of up and coming young South Shore artists to be available January, 2008 entitled "Full Circle ". Catch her while you can!
Opener: The Armstrong Brothers Band
- The Armstrong Brothers Band has been performing at South Shore Events for the better part of two decades.   With friend Bill Holbrook on percussion, they have recently been featured musical performers for the Marshfield Audubon Society Annual Field Day, Hingham 's Weir River Farm Fall Festival, and Cohasset's own South Shore Arts Center sponsored Strawberry Festival. They have the most fun these days, however, as the well honed backup band for feature artist Mimi Mahoney, as well as other up and coming South Shore Artists.
